Your wellbeing is our priority at United Learning. It is vital for us to have healthy and happy members of staff, which in turn ensures you are providing the best education for our children.

We are working with on a programme with experts to support wellbeing in all our schools. We offer great benefits to support the health and wellbeing of colleagues, such as discounted gym memberships, Cycle2Work schemes and free counselling. We also provide you with more time to think and prepare for the term ahead, with a minimum of eight INSET days a year – with at least three dedicated to planning.

'A Good Day At Work'

In 2016, we commissioned national wellbeing experts Robertson Cooper to support United Learning schools with the integration of staff wellbeing into their everyday approach.

The programme is now in its second year and impacts over 2,100 members of staff across participating schools. Beginning by helping headteachers to understand the emotional state of their school, the programme encourages leaders to target wellbeing activities at the right level for staff. There are different themes for each term, such as resilience and workload management, and schools are provided with plenty of advice and materials to support with their activities.

This programme will be rolled out to all schools in our Group in the coming years.

The gift of time

At least eight INSET Days, including three dedicated planning days, per year

Every academy within the Group starts each term with a dedicated planning day where the school is closed to pupils so that teachers can prepare for the term ahead.

These extra INSET days provide valuable support to staff and make a contribution to improving working life at a time when reforms to curriculum, exams and testing (amongst other things) are creating significant demands. Creating this additional time to prepare helps to improve our colleagues' health and wellbeing. By giving you more preparation time before the pressures of the term begin, these INSET days benefit your teaching and therefore the education our children receive.
