Our ethos is simple

Since 1884, we’ve been committed to providing the best education and opportunities for the children and young people that attend our schools, improving their life chances.

Now with more than 60 schools in our group, ranging from independent schools to state primary, secondary and all-through academies, we’re proud to say we’re supporting children from every walk of life.

Uniquely, we unite the state and independent sectors, to give more opportunities and get the best out of every pupil and member of staff, creating education and career development opportunities that wouldn’t otherwise exist.

We place particular emphasis on supporting those from low-income families in areas of high unemployment and deprivation.

Teaching is a challenging – yet fantastic – profession. It takes a dedicated practitioner with a solid team of support staff behind them to make a real difference to a child’s life.

That’s why we believe so strongly in the power of sharing.

Sharing underpins our ambitious and dynamic network. We share core values and a common goal. We share expertise, resources and facilities, from within our teams across clusters and the whole Group, because pooling our capabilities reduces unnecessary workloads and improves educational outcomes. It creates development opportunities for the staff that are leading and for those who benefit from their skills. What’s more, it means a better work-life balance for you.

By sharing knowledge, we bring out ‘the best in everyone’, ensuring that our pupils recognise their potential, and our staff can fulfil their personal and professional ambitions.

Together we achieve more

Our Group Progress 8 score is 0.22, significantly higher than the average across maintained schools (-0.03). 90% of KS5 students leaving our independent schools went on to study at a higher education institution, half of whom took up a place at a Russell Group university.

There has been a 55% increase in the number of academies ranked ‘Good’ and above compared with their previous Ofsted grade.

But we're always striving to achieve more. If you think you could help, then take a look at what it’s like to work here.
