Harry Wall

I qualified as a teacher of Physical Education in 1997.  I became a Department Lead within 2 years for PE and PSHE in an Independent School.  In 2000, I decided to move to Oxfordshire and took up a post at a secondary school under LEA which was at the time in ‘special measures’. Here I became an AST and supported the school’s improvement journey, running a Learning Support Unit and developing the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum framework.

In 2007, United Learning converted the secondary school (now North Oxfordshire Academy) in Banbury into an Academy.  I was transferred over as the Assistant Headteacher for SEND, Pastoral Care, Behaviour and Welfare.  I completed my NPQH as I had career aspirations to become a Headteacher.  In 2011, I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership and Innovation.

In 2014, I was given an opportunity through a secondment to head a primary academy that was a feeder to the secondary. The Primary had received an Ofsted rating of ‘Requires Improvement’ and I began the journey once again on a school improvement.

I have a passion for leadership and school development. I currently facilitate for United Leadership and have set up a hub in Banbury for IOE to deliver NPQs.

I chosen to stay within United Learning through the journey of identifying themselves as a key multi-academy trust.  I am passionate about this group as I align to the core values and Framework for Excellence that has been developed. I believe that we have a social responsibility to provide a moral education that prepares our pupils for their future so they become active global citizens.

I have been promoted within the group, to Headteacher and now have the opportunity to develop further as an Educational Partner, Facilitator within the United Learning Leadership programme and a committed participant on System Leadership.  United Learning supported me through my Masters qualification and now I am currently completing my Level 7 in Executive Coaching.

I want to continue on my career in leadership within educational settings.  I have passion for all phases and have a particular interest in progression through the Key Stages and children’s flight paths through knowledge and skill sets. I am an active researcher that enjoys empowering teachers and support staff to ‘take risks’ with educational practice, which creates an outstanding provision for children.
