I’d like to train as a teacher, where do I start?

United Teaching is our bespoke teacher training course and a great place to start your teaching career. We also offer a Future Teachers programme to kickstart your career while being immersed in your local school setting.

Are there any United Learning schools in my area?

Almost certainly! We are an ever-growing Group of almost a hundred schools spread across England.

What's the pay like?

We are proud to offer competitive remuneration and benefit packages for all roles.  

For teachers in our academies, we guarantee to pay above the maintained sector; the average is currently 5% above. We also offer the generous TPS/LGPS pension schemes to all academy-based colleagues.

Will I get any professional development opportunities?

Absolutely! We offer a huge variety of CPD options. From pursuing qualifications to mentorship and leadership training, we support our schools to offer every staff member opportunities to realise their full potential. 

Are benefits offered to every member of staff?

Yes, everyone receives a core benefits package that includes a contributory pension scheme, plus a vast array of discounts for shops and restaurants. 

I need to move house to take up a new role – will I be eligible for a remuneration package?

If your role is eligible, then you could receive up to £8,000 to help with relocation costs. This can be put towards the cost of buying or renting a new home, and you will also receive a health care package for your first year of employment. Talk to your recruiting school for more details.

Can I transfer between schools?

We’re always keen for staff to find opportunities to progress internally, and we welcome internal applications for roles. All vacancies are advertised on this website and on United Hub, our Group intranet. You can also talk to your line manager to find out about any other opportunities.

Do you have any opportunities for staff who aren’t teachers?

Yes, many!

Of our 10,000 current employees over half are in education and business support roles. This is in our schools or central offices in Peterborough and London, or field-based colleagues working remotely. Our business support colleagues include expert professionals in many functions, including finance, human resources, marketing, estates and IT. These colleagues play an essential role in providing better life opportunities for our pupils and our schools couldn’t run without them.
